Has anyone out there had problems with Black East Indie hatching and fertility. Do you have any tips you want to share?

Another experimental type thing to improve hatch rates in waterfowl eggs is the removal of the cuticle of the egg before setting. Jim Satterfield has been doing some experiments with this using muratic acid to remove the cuticle. It doesn't seem to hurt the embryo at all, and if anything it seems to make hatching easier for waterfowl...Something for you call duck breeders!
Wayne- They do have a pan of swimming water specificly for breeding. Now they have begun molting which has stopped eggs.
Does any one have White Piken Duck eggs that can be hatched? I know it is late in the laying season for ducks but no harm in trying. If you do lets talk.
Can someone help me how to sex my three month old Ruen ducks. Some are light brown and others have darker brown feathers. If this is and indication can someone tell me which is which?
Dont put any water near your incubator , if thats what you are using, add enough to bring the wet upto what it should be, I forget at the minute, at 24-25 day and dont lift the lid till they arrive,,although forced draught machines arnt so fussy, remember the air is wet and unless You are hatching on everest or alaska winter WATCH the HUMIDITY,ITS A KILLER. Especially in smaller eggs If infertile how old is the drake how is the feeding how is the breeding controlled; hope this is of value; success this season
How long do duck eggs take to hatch? I thought 28 days was the norm... but it's now been 31 days. All eggs are white-shelled, though from a variety fo ducks: Pekin, Rouen, Swedish. Everybody's setting, they only come out to stretch their legs and eat and drink a little (less than before!) I can see the eggs are turning black, which I take to be a sign of activity within the shell, but no hatching! Is there a trick I need to know? My husband wants to crack one open and see, but I don't want to interfere too quickly...
I've opened some of my ducks' eggs now; two were black and rotten (phew!) but one I opened 2 weeks ago had a yellow yolk with a red beating heart. Where do I stand?
If the eggs are turning dark after 28 days may be a sign that the duckling has died, try smelling the outside of the shell on the dark ones and discard them immediately. The fumes from rotten eggs are toxic and could kill the other embryos.
We are doing a science experiment....can a chicken hatch a duck egg and will the duckling act like a chicken or a duck? How long does it take to hatch a duck?
I have three baby Mallards I found in an abandoned nest about a week ago. There is one fourth egg that hasn't hatched yet. Is there a chance it will still hatch if I put it in an incubator?
My two ducks have been sitting on their eggs for approx. 3 weeks now. Two days ago one of the ducks took five of her eggs out of her nest and put them at the entrance of her house. It is like she is rejecting them. I broke one open and it was an embryo. The egg was filled with blood. I put the 4 remaining eggs back in her nest. Does anyone know why she would of taken those eggs out of her nest?
What do you feed newly hatched mallards? I ran across an abandoned next of 9 eggs and have been incubating them under a light for 4 weeks. The first egg hatched and the others are showing signs of life. Went to the feed store and they suggested turkey starter, but the chick won't touch it. Any suggestions???

do your indies have access to swimming water i raise call and the good ones seem harder to hatch due to thier difficulty in piping due to thier short bills but you shouldn't have that problem with the indies i find that diet and having a place large enough to swim greatly improves fertility some indies won't even attempt to mate without a place to swim i also have a tip on hatching the ones that don't pip but it's a little complicated for an amatuer so i rather not post it if you e-mail me i'll explain
