A while ago, I recieved a peafowl egg. I put it under one of my bantam hens(I wasn't even sure it would fit under her!!) A little while later, out popped the unexpected head from under the white feathers. It is now a few months old, and bigger than the foster mother, and I have no clue as to what the sex of the bird is. I did a little reserch, and discovered that the males and the females look pretty much the same when they are young. I would be grateful for a little advise.
if the chick is a India Blue peachick. The wings will have light and dark barring. If it is a hen the wings will be smooth and she will be grayish color with a small amount of green on the neck.
Hey Peacockman, do you know what young train feathers look like? Also the peachick has some shiny, colorful feathers on its neck that fade into white on the chest. Is that what you're talking about?
Audra soyy I havent checkedin on the Coop for some time havent had time.
Hi If your egg was from India Blues ,and the chick (new) is very light colored, sorta white/yellow then you have a baby girl,if it was a light brownish color you have a baby boy! Congrats.
Sorry guys, I haven't been on in a while.

On the breast of a hen chick it will show somw green and the lower breast will be a light color. If no barring is showing is on the wing feathers then it will be a hen India Blue.
