You know what? I religiously check my messages (dislocation, Very loose droppings, Dead Leghorn, strange growth...) here at the Coop, hoping each time that I will receive some kind--any kind of reply. Ha ha ha. Yes, some of you did express concern and got in touch with me, but for most of the messages I posted, I got absolutely no feedback! I'm tired of waiting... When I check the new messages, I always, whether I have a good answer or not, at least attempt to help the person, or let them know that I read the note. Obviously, people here have no ambition to help their fellow poultry people. I came here, a 16 year old girl, seeking advice from others, and wanting to learn from it. Well, the only thing I did learn was that you can't count on people to give a hoot about you.
I am sorry--now that I go back and read that message, I realize that it was written "in the heat of the moment", and sounds awfully rude. Please excuse and forgive my behavior, but keep in mind the points that I made.
Not to worry. Everyone is entitled to a "pity party" on
Sorry if you felt you were ignored. I assume many people read your message as I did, but just didn't have enough knowledge to give you advise. I just got started with chickens again after a long absence, and know mostly what I've read with minimal experience. This board doesn't seem to have the activity that some others do. I've seem peoples questions answered in hours on other sites. I check all that I've been able to find looking for any help I can get.
I know this is a poultry health message board, but thatnk you everyone for putting up with me! And do you know any other good poultry/chicken sites?
Dear _____ (your name there),
Try these:
I just rediscovered The Coop tonight when searching for more info on my hen's Bumblefoot. I wanted to let you know I really enjoy two other sites; The Poultry Information Exchange and FeatherSite. I regularly use their boards and people are very active there. However, I'd like to advise you to continue searching here too, a more complete circle of resources, the more you have. Keep posting and you'll get noticed and draw others in as well, like me!
I know how you feel!! I mean i posted something about blood spots on my cousins chickens, but no body every replied! Don't loose hope!!!!! Sorry to say but i did read your post but i never wrote back!!!!!
p.s. Thank you very much to the people that did answer me! I appreciated it!

Use your favorite search engine, and use the word "poultry". Look for State Extension Services (IE: Hank Kimbel, County Agent). In agriculture and horticulture, they are the best (dry reading possibly) sources for plain old info. Q&A's would be found on boards like this, and they'll show up in the search also. That's how I found this board, and the only way I found recommendations for care, coops, etc. I'm a novice, and only monitor this board. However, if I feel I'm not getting responses to my questions, I refer to the other sites. Some of them never answer all my questions either. No one seems to have heard of 'Mountain Herberts', and I've only seen one other reference to them, and that was here. They may be a 'deviant' of an americaunus, white plymouth rock, etc. Here in Michigan, Michigan State University has 'extension services' all over, and you can take plant and soil samples in for professional evaluation. I've seen no less than a half dozen state extension services online regarding poultry in my searches. If you use 'chicken', you don't get much. Manitoba Chicken something or other, and they only tell the volume of poultry raised per year, and the percapita consumption of Manitoba chickens by humans. Real useful if you want to evaluate how much chicken chow mein you ate last year. I hope this helps.
Best,
Paul and his gang of eight and his VERY FIRST EGG WEDNESDAY!!!!! <YAY! About time!!!>
