I have a problem concerning some chickens I am raising. They are well fed but when you pick them up they dont feel very solid . Also when they are walking they seem to struggle and fallover sometimes. They are about 4 months old and dont seem as healthy as others that we also got with them . This seems to be spreading so we have isolated the sick ones .If anyone knows what this is and how it can be treated we would appreciate any response.

hey there.......sounds like yours have coccidiosis (treatable) if you diagnosis it early enough. i learnt the hard way. buy some Sulphur3 or Sulphurquinn.its watersoluable and not that expensive. its caused by overcrowding and birds eating infected birds poop. lime the pen and keep clean while treating.

hope this helps.........regards

I have a banty that can't walk. She looks to be paralyzed in the leg area -- falling over et cetera. Can someone help?

Sherri, It sounds like it could be Marek's Disease, which in one of its forms, begins with one leg, often one wing, same side, then both legs paralyzed. If it is Marek's, there is no treatment, no cure, and it is usually progressive until death. The bird will eat and drink as long as it can lift the neck and head, if you keep food and water nearby, and apparently suffers no pain, remains optomistic almost to the end. Hope it is not Marek's, but your brief description of symptoms flashes that diagnosis. Sorry not to have good news. CJR
