We have a Plymouth Barred Rock Rooster-14 months old who has been wheezing for about 2 weeks. We tried Terramycin powder in the water for the past week but have seen NO improvement. He seems like he may be getting worse. Our 7 hens are showing no similar symptoms and their eggs are fine. He acts fine otherwise. I've read other postings here about Tylan, Gallimycin, and Arauromycin crumbles. The Quality Farm and Fleet near us only has the Terramycin-any suggestions on where else we could check? Also-would anyone know what this might be? Thanks!

I've used Tylan-50 injectible. Gallimycin is good too, but I prefer injectible as I know what dosage the sicko is getting instead of hoping it would drink enough.
I've not used the crumbles as I cannot find them.
Our feed store sells Tylan and you can probably contact a livestock supply business, as well.
I also isolate my sick birds so they get lots of rest. A rooster will likely chase the girls until he drops, it he had his druthers!

After extensive research, I found a local breeder that has been in business for 36 years. He said that my flock has a cold. It will run through the entire flock. I've been giving Aureomycin powder in there water for 3 days now and have seen a DRASTIC improvement. They are slowly getting back to normal. I have only 2 that are still showing symptoms. The breeder says I may lose a couple but I'm hoping I don't. I am very attached to my "babies". I've been changing the medicated water 3 times a day, even though the directions say every 12-24 hours depending on the type of waterer. With each change I wash the waterers and feeders in anti-bacterial soap and very hot water. I haven't seen any syptoms in my White Pekins or guineas. After making a larger area in the yard for the 1 month old turkeys they are completely different now, flying around and playing. I purchased my Aureomycin powder at the local Southern States. I'm sure almost any feed store would carry it. I appreciate all of the advice and I can only hope that this is just a cold and nothing more. The above steps have certainly helped and they all seem to feel much better. I hope this will help the rest of you.

I mix 3 Tsps Aureomycin powder to one gallon of water per the salespersons recommendation. One 6.4 oz package will make about 100 gallons.
