Mycoplasma

The Classroom @ The Coop: Poultry Health Archive 2 (older): Mycoplasma

I have just begun raising turkeys. I had one to die already from Mycoplasimic pneumonia. I had very little luck with antibiotics: Terramycin in the water, Gentamycin IM injections. What else can be done? Will this affect my chickens' health?

I just went through what we assumed was mycoplasma in my peafowl chicks. Terramycin did not work but I did get some Arauromycin crumbles at my feedstore. I just fed it to them straight because they were not eating enough to overdose. I noticed a big improvement the next day and all recovered - even one poor soul who couldn't even stand up.

Chickens do get the disease but it affects the young ones the most.

(check the responses under "sick peafowl" and "shame on you guys" for more tips).

Good luck!
