my six month old pullets are laying very small eggs. I know that this is normal for young hens, but I was curious as to when they will start laying larger eggs.
Yes, they are still babies, and the eggs just gradually get larger as they mature. A month will see a difference if they are a Layer-breed. And 3-4 months will see nice big eggs, depending upon the breed, feeding, and housing schedules. CJR
This is very normal so don't worry. You are right they are babies but The size of the eggs will differ from bird to bird. For instance my own Barred Rocks are all the same age, they were hached at the same time and are all relitivly the same size. However they lay different sized eggs. I have one who's eggs have barely started to become larger, And others whos eggs are already Huge!
