Ok, silly question. I have about 6 polish hens and a mix of other fancies. They are all about 7 months old. So far only my silver leghorns and buttercup hens are laying. My cochins and polish are not. My question is, will they ever?! I feed them all laying mash since and they get a reasonable amount of light. I realize these breeds aren't going to have banner egg production, but will they ever lay? What rate of lay can I expect from polish and cochins? Thanks

They will lay, your polish and cochins are pobebly waiting for spring. Dunno about the polish, but the cochins lay a little then go broody, lay a little then go broody, then just for a change of pace they lay a little then go broody (note sacrcasm on just fo a cahnge of pace line). Hope it helps.

Hi. I have 3 polish, 2-buff, and 1-silver hens. The
rooster was dinner. Oops sorry. We have had great
success with ours laying. We started to switch to lay
ration at about 18 weeks old. They had the first egg
at at 23wks. We get an egg or two everyday. I'm not
sure if all are laying. I know for sure one two are.
I have my suspicions about the silver one. We do live
in Florida so that may make a differance. They are
at almost 26wks now. I love it! It's like finding
treasure everyday.
