This morning, while the other chickens were out happily pecking about he yars, my golden polish hen was sitting on a nest. I figured she was laying an egg. So about 2 hours later, I come back to collect the egg and she is still on the nest. She appears to be turning the egg. But strangest of all, she was making a low, quiet, rapid-fire clucking when breathing out. Now I've heard about hens lowly clucking while brooding, but a polish? Also, since the clucking/ wheezing sounds only happens when she is breathing out, I'm a little worried about a respiratory infection. Any help would be great. Thanks!

She is broody. Any hen can go broody wether their supposed to or not. I'm not sure about how broody a polish is. If you decide to let her set hope you have good luck. If you don't her to set you need to get her to stop by sepperating her from the nest.
