Hi, I've really enjoyed reading all of the postings and feel like I have learned alot. Cjeanr has some wonderful advice and experience. I have raised my chicks successfully, so far, and have about 8 week old hens. They look healthy and I have been keeping them in our summer screen house with pine shavings on a cement floor but now want to move them out into some type of pen. I have ordered a book called "Chicken Tractors" by Andy Lee so hope this will be the definitive book on the subject. Found one ark type on a web page but it was over $700 plus $150 s&h. Anyone have building plans for an ark type chicken tractor (moveable coop)? My husband is good at building. Really like the idea of not having to muck out a chicken coop but just move it around our very large, suburban yard. It will need to have a roof/tarp of some kind since we are in South central Texas and it gets hot! Any information would be appreciated! Plans would be even better.
Thanks in advance! Chris

Check out Joel Salatin's pastured poultry pens. He has a book out and there is some info on the web. But you have to search for it. Also feathersite.com has some good links. Hope this helps.
