I have two 16 week old Cornish x, and I read in a book that they have leg problems and shouldn't roost. Mine never have roosted, but mine run funny and I was wondering if the leg problem is painful or if it will get worse. They seem happy and I really don't want to kill them. Also (on the same birds), do they lay eggs at all even though they are broilers? Thanks, Daniel

They will lay eggs. I have three hens and one rooster. Two of my hens waddle like a duck and one in particular does seem to have leg problems. She sits a lot and doesn't do much scratching like the others seem to love. We are just keeping an eye on her and will make a decision to butcher her if we feel she is experiencing much discomfort. She seems pretty happy now and she's about 7-8 mos. old.

All three of them are good layers. They do breed them to lay well as that is how they get the chicks for the next round!

Hope that helps. I don't have any long-term info., just what I've experienced so far.

Susie

Pollo, yes they do lay eggs. To keep them from killing themselves by getting to fat you need to restrict their feed. Obesity is what is causing leg problems.
