Is it all right to feed my 8-week old chickens greens and bread crumbs? They seem to pick at weeds when I let them roam so I thought it was ok. And someone told me the breadcrumbs had vitamins that they could use.

Gee, they are soooooo much fun! I'm so glad I started this!

And I love this message board. Thanks to all of you!

Greens are fine, be sure they have baby grit to help grind the feeds going through the gizzard. Breadcrumbs have little food value for chickens, but nice to feed as it is a great tamer and attraction to get their attention. I put codliver oil on bread for my young and old birds during the dark days of winter--and they look for me to have it whenever I come, they do not forget, summer or winter! CJR
