Hi,
Go to the website www.mcmurrayhatchery.com
ummm personally i wouln't go to mcmurrays, i have heard about people getting chickens from them and within days their chicks are sick and dying. but thats my opion, just wanted you to know.
Rachel-
I bought my hens from McMurray and had excellent results.
Thank you all for your help... I put feed in with them everynight also water... I will still put the water but not the feed....
Sue, If you get up as early as chickens do, you might be happy for both food and water in the morning?? CJR
I have a very large feeder, I only fill it once a week, you might want to try something like that. Make sure it is the type they can't get into and that it is elevated so they don't scratch stuff into it. They have food whenever they want it, as early as they want it.
I had very good luck with McMurray's. Just wanted to throw that in!
I wrote a couple weeks back about just getting chickens.. I am happy to say they are doing well... We have one that my son Mike taught how to come when he claps and then he pats his back and he jumps on it.. Sooooooo Cute.
Here is my question... Do I have to put feed in the coop at night with these chickens? Also our cat got ahold of our frizzles and now we only have one.. Can anyone tell me where other then the big hatcheries where I could get some females?
Thank you all for all of your help... I just love this place and I love our chickens...
Hugs,
Sue

That is the address for a big hatchery in Iowa, I think. They sell Frizzled chicks.

McMurray is a great source for getting chicks. I have delt with them for over 10 years for laying hens (I have also ordered red frizzle cochins and Egyptian Fayomous besides Partridge Rocks and Americanas). I have only lost one light brahma and all the rest have been perfectly healthy. Most of the time the chicks getting sick is caused by their owners either not being prepared for them or having them in crowded, unsanitary conditions.
Oh, and Sue-- I don't think McMurray sexes their frizzle cochins so you would be getting both hens and roosters. If you're looking for just hens, I would advise looking some place else.

As for feed in the coop at night, you don't need to as your chickens will sleep the night through.
