My chickens (Rhode Island Reds) stopped laying. They are about 17 months old and have been laying for about 9 months regularly. I also noticed that they are losing a lot of feathers. Are they molting? How long will they stop laying for?
Any help will be greatly apprectiated.
bye the way.....I only have 3 chickens...lol.
Thanks
Neffer

They are probably moulting. This generally lasts three months or so, at their age. Feed them well, reduce their stress, add vitamins and electrolytes to their water if you wish, and help them rebuild their bodies as quickly as possible, which is the purpose of the moult. Good luck.
