I am recieving chicks in the mail in a few days. I am getting Barred Plymouth Rocks. I would like to hatch my own eggs in the future.I am wondering if it would be safe if I bred a brother to a sister.Would the offspring be normal and free of deformities?

Are you receiving your chicks from a hatchery? Chances are slim that they are brothers and sisters, since they are "flock" bred. But if they are, you will never know it. I do it in rare instances, but then breed out to a different line the next generation. This is to obtain dominance of a particular good feature. If laying is the strong point of your breeding stock, it can't hurt a thing. CJR
