What does splash look like? Is the only way to get it by breeding Blue/Blue? Does it breed true?

Anonymous. My Splash Dutch Bantams are Blue Light Brown x Blue Light Brown or Blue Cream LB x BCLB and the males are "no two alike" with usually mainly white body and tail feathers, but orange, yellow, red, black, grey, blue, maybe just several of those colors, maybe all of them, random, hackle, breast, saddle (usually red) tail feather colors. Some are lovely, some, really clowns. The females are like female Piles, but as the Dutch name translates Splash=Dirty White--there is a "dusty" overlay on the white body--they may have flecks of blue or black, but they are very pretty. Some Blue x Blue give 1/4 Splash, 1/4 Black 1/4 Blue--depends on which Blue genes, in which breed, you are using. Blue Reds, Blue Wheatens, Andalusian Blue, etc, each has its "rules". Takes some research--Fred Jeffreys book BANTAM CHICKENS could help you--it's pretty complicated to sort it all out, but lots of fun. CJR

Birdface, If you send me your e-mail address, I will send you some pictures of Splash Dutch Bantams. What "Blue" variety birds and of what breed are you working with? CJR
