I am looking for information on the genetics for the upright trait in the german pekin ducks. I would like to cross the german pekins with american to pass on this trait. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
I believe Evy Avery in Bainbridge, NY has imported some of these german pekins. Email me at embden@aol.com and I will give you her address and phone#. I would like to politely enquire as to what advantage you would find in crossing a more upright posture (and smaller head and neck size, shorter body length, etc.) into american pekins, rather than just working to preserve each distinct type? I am really interested in your thinking, as a breeder and exhibitor of a very nice strain of pekins for which it has taken us years to consistently achieve the desired qualities (of which a posture at about a 45 degree angle and head and neck size is important).Looking forward to hearing from you!
