would appreciate some help with the breed of black sex links. will be using them for eggs. please,as much info as possible. also, if anyone knows a web site that would have info and pictures.
Ron. Try Feathersite. It has pictures of many breeds and usually a little information about it. Not exactly sure of the address off hand, but if you just type in feathersite in your search engine it should come up.
Don't know if you still are researching this?
Dutch breeding company Bovans produces a black sex-linked layer using barred plymouth rock in the mother lines and Rhode Island Red in the father lines. It's called Bovans Nera
I raised Black Sex Links for the 4-H. From what i understand, Black Sex Links are a hybrid, meaning they do not have anyway to have fertilized eggs. The name comes from the fact that their black color is sex-linked in the genetic code of the parents. They're a cross between a Rhode Island Red and something else{i don't know what else}.
Ummmm, hen, they're mixed breed chickens but they can produce chicks. They are a cross between a RIR and a Barred Rock.
thank you, ron
