Does anyone know about how many chicks a Call duck usually have? I'm writing this for a report and also am very interested now in raising them. So if anyone knows about how many ducklings are born it sure would help. I raise Mallards but wasn't sure if they have close to them or not. Lou Horton's article on them really helped but it didn't tell that. Also does anyone know any other info on them that his article didn't cover?
Thanks so much.

Hi Roxanne - I don't know about anybody else's call ducks, but very few of my hens have ever gotten really broody. In other words, they don't sit and hatch their own clutch. I either give them to the mallards, or incubate them. but - call eggs are very small, obviously since the birds are tiny, so probably they could theoretically sit as many as a mallard does, because it would be proportionate. Hope this helps - Colleen
