I'm 15 years old and I just recently required a splash hen. I have only white and black silkies. I wondered what colors I will get if cross the splash with the white or black silkies. Please help me.

Rachel,
I agree with Dogwood Acres. Breed her to the black rooster. If she is out of a good blue, you should get 100% blue chicks.
Thanks,
Rachel

Breed your splashed silkie to a black rooster. Possibly the splash is a variation you get when breeding the color blue. If it is and you breed it to a black rooster, part of the hatch will be blue, part black and part splashed. Try this combination first and see what happens. You can always try crossing with a white rooster later in the season. Good luck...Red Tail Chicken Hawk....

Actually the way the color blue (andulusian) works is like this. Blue is (Bb), Black is (BB) & spalsh is (bb). By crossing to blues (Bb) you theoretically get 25% black, 50% blue & 25% splash. By crossing a splash (bb) with a black (BB) you get 100% Blue (Bb).
Keep us posted how your birds do.

Choose your best blues the next year and breed them together and you will get 50% blues, 25% blacks and 25%splashes. Good luck!
