Hi, I have a hen that decided to sit on 20 eggs in a create. lots of stray...the first week she lost about 10 eggs, they were just gone......moved her into the barn in a large cage....second week she lose more....this week she was down too two eggs...two days ago one egg was crushed...not pretty.....today the last egg was crushed.....chick was mostly developed...very sad...My question is...why are the shells breaking so easy? are the shells drying out and becomeing brittle? any help would be a god sent.....she wants to continue sitting not sure what to do....

on average you should only let the hen sit on 13 egg's
at the most,
no wonder she is breaking them. remove any egg's not requires and use them in cooking etc.
