I have provided 3 nests for my 9 hens. They will only use one sometimes 2 are in the box at one time. How can I get them to move into another nest?

You can't, for sure, if they are started in just one. One nest always seems more attractive to hens. If they all want to lay at the same time, they may have to move into another one, but you might leave an egg in each nest as a signal that it is a great place to lay an egg. Is the nest they are using on the "darkest" end? By hanging a burlap or in front of the other nest, the hens might like them better than if they are always in the light. You may need a "roost" board in front of the nests to land on before entering the nest. But there will always be a favorite nest. CJR

If you will place a golf ball in the nests you wish them to use, this will also encourage them to nest there. I move one of these around to keep certain nests from filling up with eggs while the others go unused.

What a good idea about the golf balls! I've been trying to find those white plastic toy eggs and haven't been able to find any. I'll try the golf balls. Everyone around here has such neat ideas...
I love you guys!
