I am new at raising chickens and want to know how to clip a chickens wings so that they won't fly away and if it is either painful or cruel to the hens? Any info would be hreatly appreciated.
you can hold the chicken upside down by its feet and it will hold its wings out from its body. if not it is easy to pull the wing out. then just clip the feathers with a sharp pair of scissors. be careful not to trim to far back. also only clip one wing or they will fly anyway.
