this may really be a silly question,, but i was wanting to know which breed of chickens will set on the nest and raise chicks,,, i have rhode island reds and barred rocks and they have never set,,, i want one who will be a good setter and mother,,,HELP PLEASE,,, JUST NEED A FEW NAMES THANKS SASSY

Australorps, Brahmas, Buckeyes, Chanteclers, Cochins, Javas, Langshans, Orpingtons, Sumatras, Sussex, and Wyandottes are known to be good broodies. Silkies are also good broodies but are considered a bantam in this country. They are a medium sized bird. Good luck.
